YORKTOWN, N.Y. – An old-school burger joint is set to open next month in a Triangle Center storefront between A&P and the newly opened Luvin’ Spoonfuls.

Jake’s Wayback Burgers plans to open Sept. 14, said Gillian Maffeo, the company’s director of marketing. The Delaware-based company began in 1991 with a single restaurant called Jake’s Hamburgers, and has since expanded to 60 locations throughout the nation, including a store in Hartsdale.

“We have over 100 sold, so we’re looking at a lot opening up,” Maffeo said. “We’re a franchise organization, so we don’t have any corporate stores. It would be the franchisee that is from that area or likes that particular location, and they wanted to go to Yorktown Heights.”

Jake’s changed its name to Wayback Burgers in 2010 to differentiate itself from other fast-food chains that Jake’s says serve frozen “hockey-puck” burgers. Maffeo said Jake’s patties are 3.3 ounces, and burgers can come with one, two or three patties. Jake’s will add sliders in October.

“We have hand-blended milkshakes that are served in tin metal cups. We have a milkshake bar that you can sit at that has those round bar stools, and we have butcher-block tables, and steel chairs, so it’s kind of like the old-time theme,” Maffeo said. “It’s a very rustic sort of feel.”

Every month, Jake's Wayback Burgers features a new Burger of the Month and Shake of the Month. August’s burger is the Rodeo Burger, which has two patties, beer-battered onion rings, American cheese and barbecue sauce. The shake for August is a peach milkshake.

“Obviously we have burgers, shakes, fries, and all of our food is fresh; it’s not frozen,” Maffeo said. “We have onion rings, turkey burgers, chicken burgers and more.”

The full menu can be viewed on the Jake’s Wayback Burgers website.
