The United Way summit, held at the DoubleTree Hotel, brought together “volunteer and professional leaders in the not-for-profit sector to identify emerging challenges and opportunities, shape new leadership strategies and build organizations that excel."

“Helping to support nonprofits and giving back locally ties us to the communities that we live in, helps us do our part to support our communities, and live events are one of the main methods of fundraising for nonprofits,” Guilderson said. Corporate AV specializes in providing audiovisual production and tech support services to corporate, nonprofit and health care markets, and has been in operation since 1985. Guilderson’s company handles more than 150 nonprofit fundraising events each year. “We found that no one really wanted to enter this market because they figured nonprofit meant no profit,” Guilderson said. “You do have to be creative in budgeting, no question about it. That is why our focus is on the goals of the event. “Corporate AV knows how to recommend the best uses for the budget that is there, and if there is a way to help them generate more revenue, then we offer solutions via technology to do that," said Guilderson.

At the United Way’s event, Guilderson was part of a panel discussion titled “From Basics To Brilliance -- Finding The Wow Factor For Your Event.” Janet Pollack, vice president of development at Planned Parenthood, moderated the event. Fellow panelists included: Rose Cappa-Rotunno, president of Cappa Crucy & Co; Jill Prince, president, Hal Prince Music and Entertainment; David Pelton, director of catering, sales and operations of the New York Hospitality Group; Joseph Pugni Jr., president of Joseph Richard Florals, LLC; and Donvil Collins, founder and CEO of VeeKast.
