YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. Yorktown residents now only have to travel downtown to get a little taste of Paris.
Victorias Confections opened on Downing Drive earlier this month and filled the vacancy left by Carvel Ice Cream. Despite only opening her doors on Aug. 6, owner Victoria Addino said her crêpes are already drawing regulars.
Once we explain what the crêpes are, they are really ready to try it, Addino said. She described the desserts as very thin pancakes that can be served with a variety of toppings and fillings.
While Addino said the crêpes are the stores biggest draw, Victorias will also be selling other European delicacies like cakes, fudge, gelato and more than 200 types of candy.
Addino was born in Yonkers, but now lives in Yorktown with her two daughters, Sadie and Raquel. She is a published author with a passion for writing, she said, but opened the store to follow another passion of hers.
I write short stories and childrens books and poetry, Addino said. But I always liked chocolate.
The shop opened without much advertisement, but Addino said she plans on having a grand opening soon when everything in the store is finalized. As a Yorktown resident, Addino is excited to help bring business to her town and fill an empty storefront.
I think its great. I think its really good for the community, Addino said. And all the high school kids, they like working in these types of shops. They dont like cleaning, though.
