YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- A new proposal from the owners of Sears at the Jefferson Valley Mall would see the store move up a floor.

Seritage, which owns the retailer, told the Yorktown Town Board at a June 13 meeting that it is considering moving Sears to the second floor, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown . The first-floor Sears would be turned into three separate spaces, including a 24-hour fitness center. No other tenants were identified for the other two spaces, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown.

The Sears auto center on the second floor will be converted into a restaurant, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown.

Washington Prime also proposed a new entrance road into the site from Route 6. The new road will link up to the existing ring road around the mall which will then be dedicated to the town, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown.

Supervisor Michael Grace expressed concern about the fitness center competing with Club Fit. A representative of the fitness center will be making a presentation at a future meeting, according to Citizens for an Informed Yorktown.
