The year saw nearly a dozen new businesses pop up throughout Yorktown's five business hamlets.

In downtown Yorktown Heights, Jake's Wayback Burger, Jewel of Himalaya, Luvin' Spoonfuls and Twist were all welcomed into the town with grand openings.

The Route 6 area of Mohegan Lake was also a major area for new businesses, with Pizza Hut, IHOP, TCBY, and Diego's Deli.

The Crompond hamlet will likely be the town's focal point in 2013 as it reviews a proposal for a 150,000 square-foot Costco Wholesale Club at 3200 Crompond Road.
