Vicky's Cake Bar, run by Vicky Ackerman, has entered Chase's Mission Main Street Grants contest. Vicky's is hoping to garner 250 votes to move on to the next round and be one of 20 small businesses to receive a $150,000 grant.

Businesses also get a trip to Google headquarters, a Google Chrome laptop and a credit toward a market research study through Google.

Ackerman said if she wins the grant, money will go toward opening a storefront in Yorktown, which she has been working on for the past year. Ackerman established her business in 2011, with a mission of making cupcakes with innovative flavors. She has won acclaim for her French toast cupcakes and peanut butter chocolate cupcakes.

Vicky's also serves adult cocktail cupcakes with margarita and Bailey's cream cake and makes cookies, cakes and cake pops.

"I started making baked goods for friends and family and it took off from there," Ackerman said. "My favorite baked goods to make are those that are non-traditional in flavor or decoration. I prefer to make unique baked goods that are one of a kind."

Ackerman began baking after taking the Wilton Cake Decorating Classes at A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts in Yorktown.

"Winning this contest would mean the world to me," Ackerman said. "It will take Vicky's Cake Bar to the next level. We would be able to open up a store in Yorktown and be able to make our baked goods more accessible to our customers."
