Yorktown Sweets Shop Closes, Pizzeria Expands

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Victoria's Confections has come and gone from Yorktown before it could even hold its grand opening.

The crepe shop next to Dunkin' Donuts has abruptly closed just a few months after its soft opening, and has left the Downing Drive shopping center with another vacant storefront.

Victoria's opened without much advertisement on Aug. 6, filling the vacancy left by the closing of Carvel Ice Cream. Along with crepes, Victoria’s sold such European delicacies as cakes, fudge, gelato and more than 200 types of candy.

Several readers commented on the closing on The Yorktown Daily Voice's Facebook page. Many complimented the crepes and other products but said the items were too expensive.

The store was owned by Yorktown resident Victoria Addino, who could not be immediately reached for comment on the closing.

In the same shopping center just a few feet away, Sophia’s Pizza will expand its business into a neighboring storefront, one of the owners confirmed. The space was left vacant after the long-time Cards & Gifts store closed earlier this year.

The addition will be called Sophia's Restaurant Wine & Martini Bar. Hours posted on the store window indicate it will stay open until 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and until 9 p.m. Sunday.
