Mandel, Evnin Rising Stars alum and accomplished viola player, breaks down chamber music with style, charm and wit.

Featuring legendary pianist and mentor Leon Fleisher, this Chamber Talk focuses on the role of mentorship in the classical tradition and how it impacts musicians and composers, using Brahms and his relationships with Clara and Robert Schumann as a prime example. The lecture includes an open rehearsal of Brahms' Piano Quintet in F minor with Fleisher, Kenneth Renshaw, YooJin Jang, Matt Lipman, and SuJin Lee.

The final 15 minutes of the program will be used as a Q&A between Mandel, Fleisher and the four students to talk about how mentorship has evolved through the years and what this experience means to them.

The Evnin Rising Stars program is a week of intense collaboration and musical discovery where distinguished artist/mentors pass on the great masterworks of the chamber music repertoire to a new generation of outstanding talent. The next Evnin Rising Stars performances are on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m.

Tickets for Chamber Talks are $15 or $25 for adults and free for students. To purchase tickets, call 914-232-1252, or visit www.caramoor.org.
