The writer's tour with Holmes will be held on Saturday, July 26 at noon. The artist's tour with Thorpe will be held Saturday, Aug. 9 at noon.

Each tour is designed to focus on the guest expert’s area of interest and their relationship to "In the Garden of Sonic Delights."

Holmes is an author, music historian, and book editor living in New York City. Holmes studied composition with Paul Epstein at Temple University and was a member of Epstein’s improvisation group in the early 1970s. He was the publisher and editor of the magazine "Recordings of Experimental Music" from 1979 to 1985.

Holmes' experience in composing electronic music began with tape composition when he was a teenager, extended to real-time performance works on the Moog Modular synthesizer and currently encompasses works created using software synthesis. A student of contemporary music history, he has written books about the history of electronic music, jazz, rock, classical music and music technology.

Thorpe is a musician and composer who works in a variety of modalities, including fixed and improvised and installed and recorded. She plays electro-acoustic flute through an array of analog and digital effects. Her style includes listening for the just-right sounds and timbres, and the appropriate moments to introduce them to each other.

Her composed works tend to be site-specific sound pieces that speak with the environment using an amalgam of sound sources, bringing forth moments of possibility and multiplicity. Her work has been shown and performed nationally and internationally including her piece, "Listening is as Listening Does" featured in "Sonic Delights."
