Hilltop Hanover Farm Invites Community For Mid-October Events

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Spin and Knit is among many of the events that Hilltop Hanover Farm is offering throughout October.

Here is a rundown of events:

Couples Cooking – Friday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m. – 9 p.m., Barn F. Partners will learn how to cook several healthy and delicious restaurant-quality recipes from scratch with Chef Donna Simmons of Pound Ridge Organics. Fee $95 per couple; online registration only. . Spin & Knit – Saturday, Oct. 18, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Building A. -- Molly Chrystal Conference Center/Historic Building. Gather in an informal atmosphere and be part of a monthly spinning and knitting group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HanoverSpinKnitIn/ Octoberfest Preserving the Harvest: Beer Jelly & Jams -- Saturday, Oct.18, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Barn F. Join expert canner Zina Tabor to learn how to take fall fruits, coupled with favorite beer and make wonderful preserves. Registration is required; fee $25 per person. Harvest on the Hilltop – Saturday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Join the farm in a celebration of the season’s bounty with pumpkin picking, games, face painting and tours. Pumpkins and produce available for sale.  Autumnal Hike on the Hilltop – Saturday, Oct. 25, 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Main Office. Join Hilltop Hanover naturalist Wilson Chang for a guided hike to learn about Westchester's local flora and fauna on this two hour walk through the woods. Herbs to Build your Immune System – Saturday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m. – 4 p.m., Building F. Join herbalist Bonnie Rogers and learn to identify useful weeds and herbs that grow in the fields and woodlands around the farm and your home. Registration is required; $20 per person, $5 for children ages 8-12. Spin & Knit – Sunday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Building A. Gather in an informal atmosphere and be part of a monthly spinning and knitting group.
