City officials were subpoenaed Friday after a company that was not licensed to remove asbestos -- a fireproofing material that has been linked to cancer and other diseases -- was hired to knock down the abandoned house on Park Avenue, reported News12.

Thomas reacted to the move by accusing the City Council, which had issued the subpoenas, of standing in the way of progress, the News12 story said.
