Jazz Concerts, Festivals Highlight Westchester County Weekend Events

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Follow the yellow brick road, groove to jazz, support a cause and be a farmer for a day in Westchester County this weekend.

1. Wiz Fest on Saturday, Aug. 23 and Sunday, Aug. 24 from noon to 6 p.m. in Peekskill

Follow the yellow brick road to the Field Library Plaza, where local vendors and artists will take part in this event celebrating everything "Wizard of Oz." Patrons are welcome to come in costume. Free. 4 Nelson Avenue.

2. KJ Denhert At Ossining's Louis Engel Waterfront Park on Friday, Aug. 22 at 7 p.m.

Ossining’s own KJ Denhert will be sharing her urban folk and jazz music, paired with sultry vocals. Attendees are encouraged to bring seating. Picnics welcome. Free. 

3. Friday Night Jazz in Yonkers featuring Ardsley's Gil Parris on Friday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Ardsley High School alum Gil Parris is an American Grammy-nominated rock, blues, jazz and pop guitarist known for his sparkling energy and dynamic instrumentals. Free. 71 Water Grant Street. 

4. Support Connection’s 20th Anniversary Support-A-Walk Kickoff Celebration in Cortlandt Manor on Friday, Aug. 22 from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

Learn about the walk and how to raise funds, register to walk and start a team at the Hudson Valley Hospital Center while enjoying a complimentary breakfast. Free. 1978 Crompond Road. 

5. Hands On Egg Collecting at Pocantico Hill's Stone Barns on Saturday, Aug. 23 at 11 a.m.

Put your overalls and get ready to collect some eggs. Check out mobile hen houses, learn how hens live on the pasture and take home a half-dozen farm-fresh eggs. All participants must wear closed-toed shoes for this program. Youth must be accompanied by at least one ticketed adult, and all people attending the program must buy a ticket. Member adult $10.80, adult $12, member child $10.80, child $12. 630 Bedford Road.
