Bergen Sheriff Leo McGuire promotes 3, including chief

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Bergen County Sheriff Leo McGuire announced the promotions of three officers, including a new chief, Michael Bradley, a 21-year veteran of the department.

In addition, Kevin Pell is being promoted from lieutenant to captain, and Brian Irwin is being promoted from officer to sergeant.

Bradley was hired by the department on Aug. 1, 1988. In April 1991, he became a county K-9 officer and was hired as a sheriff’s officer in January 1992. He moved steadily through the ranks, becoming sergeant in December 1996, captain in April 2005 and Deputy Chief a year ago June.

“His steadfast leadership and commitment to innovation has distinguished himself in this agency,” McGuire said today, “and I am confident that those same skills will help him continue moving it into the future.”

Pell was hired in March, 1992, became a sheriff’s officer in August 1995, a sergeant in May 2002 and a lieutenant in April 2005.

Irwin was hired as a county corrections officer in May 1990 and became a sheriff’s officer twelve years later.
