Modico attended Kennedy Catholic High School in Somers, where he was the ace pitcher on the 2008 championship team, and he graduated from Boston College in 2013. He required many blood transfusions during the course of his treatment, and the Modico family is organizing this drive to help pay it forward.

Since blood donations tend to decrease after Memorial Day due to school breaks and summer vacations, the drive will help strengthen the community's blood supply.

The blood drive will be on Sunday, May 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 1377 East Main Street, Shrub Oak, N.Y.
