Northeast Doulas has partnered with the Westchester Diaper Bank to inform the community that the need for diapers is real. Their goal is to educate, raise awareness and get diapers donated for needy families.

Wanting to take the event national, this year the event will include 26 Doula agencies from across the country through the non-profit No Child Wet Behind, created by the Northeast Doulas.

One in three households with diaper-aged children is experiencing diaper need. Food stamps cannot be used to purchase diapers. When a family struggles to, or is not able to provide diapers for their baby, the family is affected both physically and emotionally.

Programs do exist to assist families with basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing but surprisingly, diaper need is not supported by any government program.

For further information visit www.nochildwetbehind.com where you can register for the 5K race, participate in the day’s activities as well as make a donation.

Northeast Doulas is a full service doula agency providing labor and postpartum support to families in the tri-state area. Please visit them at www.northeastdoulas.com.
