The patron confronted Clifford A. Jocks of Secaucus in the mens locker room just before 8:30 p.m., Maywood Police Chief David Pegg told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

They argued before Jocks left — but not before the other man got his plate number, the chief said.

Police found a broken lock that Pegg said Jocks threw into a trash can as he left. They also issued an alert.

Secaucus police soon after spotted the car in a CVS parking lot and took Jocks into custody.

He was returned to Maywood, where Pegg said his officers found crack cocaine and burglary tools in his car.

Jocks was being held on $10,000 bail in the Bergen County jail, charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, possession of drugs and burglary tools, criminal mischief and failing to surrender drugs to police.

Pegg said his detectives are exploring possible connections to similar locker thefts and sharing the information with other law enforcement agencies.
