The festival will feature hands-on exhibits on monster storms, weather forecasting and sustainable living; a regional science fair for middle school students; a presentation by meteorologist Jim Witt; a program on animals as meteorologists with live animals; STEM demonstrations and the Green Machine trailer showcasing energy efficient technologies.

Science fair projects will be grouped in four divisions: science research, engineering design, robotics and inventors/maker fair.

Participants in the science fair must register by Friday, Feb. 27, and pay a $5 fee. There is also a $4 fee for entrance to Monster Storms, the exhibit on weather and climate change.

The festival is open to the public.

"STEM Fest grew out of a desire by area science educators to promote science exploration and research," said David Jacob, coordinator of Science 21, an integrated K-6, hands-on science curriculum developed by Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES and used by districts across the state.

The festival is supported by PNW BOCES, Apple Bank and Science Teachers Association of New York State.
