Showstoppers Perform At Jefferson Valley Mall Community Day In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – The Thomas Jefferson Elementary School Showstoppers Club will be part of Community Day on Saturday at the Jefferson Valley Mall in Yorktown.

The Showstoppers will be on the Cortlandt School of Performing Arts indoor stage from 12 to 1 p.m. as one of six acts scheduled to perform.

The club, at the Lakeland School District school, began five years ago as a PTA after-school activity with six students, now there are 60 fourth- and fifth-grade students involved with an annual spring musical. There is even a Junior Showstoppers club for second- and third-graders.

Club directors are music teacher Lorraine Cich, parent Amy Kenney and stage manager Lori Smith.

The Showstoppers are scheduled to perform selections from “Mary Poppins,” “Oklahoma!,” and “Shrek.”
