YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- Women with cancer can take part in a free weekly yoga program thanks to the efforts of Support Connection.
“Yoga: A Path Toward Wellness,” is aimed at helping women experience the benefits of yoga: a stronger healthier body and a calmer, more focused mind. Emphasis is on movement with breath awareness to achieve a tranquil feeling. Appropriate for beginners or advance students.
Participants will need to obtain their doctor’s approval before participating in the wellness program. The classes will takes place on Saturdays from noon-1:30 p.m. at Club Fit in Jefferson Valley beginning in January and are open to anyonewith breast, ovarian and gynecological cancers. The class will be led by Mia Azcue, a yoga student and teacher for more than 20 years. Azcue has taught classes for Support Connection for more than 10 years. She is certified by the American Viniyoga Institute as a yoga teacher and a yoga therapist. She is also New York State licensed physical therapist. Azcue’s training enables her to assist each person with any physical, emotional and/or spiritual challenges they may be facing.
