Tarrytown is hosting its 10th annual Rubber Duck Derby on Saturday, where hundreds of ducks will float down Andres Brook in Patriots Park to benefit the Tarrytown Rotary Club.

There will be six races and the winning ducks of each heat face off in a final round. The winner gets $1500. There will also be a 50/50 race, for $200 a duck, in memory of Gerry Barbelet, a firefighter who was instrumental in putting together the duck derby. Half of the money from the 50/50 will go to Hope Hose Fire Dept for restoration of their antique truck.

"It's a great day," JoAnne Murray, who helps organize the event and will be dressed in a duck costume, said. "People like to turn out since it's the first outdoor event of the season. The park fills up with kids and families, it's so much fun to see how excited the kids are. They run along the stream and watch the ducks."

Races are at 11:15; 11:45; 12:15; 12:45; 1:15; 1:45; 2:15; with the Grand Prize race taking place at 2:30. The event is also YMCA Healthy Kids Day and will feature a bouncy castle and performances.

"It's a really fun day," Murray said. "When I walk away, I get to feel really good about it."

Each rubber duck costs $10, while a six-quack of ducks is $50 and a tub of ducks is $100. The rotary is hoping to raise $28,000 this year. The event has raised more than $200,000 for the rotary over the last two years.
