Pope Francis will be spending two days in New York City. He will arrive at JFK International Airport at approximately 5 p.m. on Thursday before attending evening prayer at St. Patrick's Cathedral at 6:45 p.m.
Pope Francis will also make several stops in New York City on Friday including a multi-religious service at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum as well as mass at Madison Square Garden at 6 p.m.
To mark the Pope's visit, Jim Killoran and Habitat For Humanity built a house in Yonkers over the weekend in his honor.
"Pope Francis has a commitment to helping those in need, whether you're in Syria or on Main Street in New Rochelle," Killoran said. "We hope this is a wake-up call that there are people in this community who need help."
Killoran said he hopes that Pope Francis has a successful visit and that his words resonate with people long after he leaves .
Dr. Kathy Reilly Fallon, an Armonk resident, won two tickets to see the papal procession through Central Park.
"I'm really looking forward to it," Fallon said. "I think he will bring a spiritual awareness to all Catholics and to people of different religions.
Fallon said she thinks Pope Francis is doing a great job.
"He's a person we look up to," Fallon said. "He reaches out to people and touches them spiritually. I'm quite excited to see him."
While Colette Connolly, a Bronxville resident, did not win tickets to see Pope Francis, she said it is exciting to have him in New York.
"I think he is really excited by many," Connolly said. "I love his openness. I think it's a breath of fresh air. There's more hope with this pope. He's a man of the people."
On Friday, Metro North Railroad will add three additional inbound trains for the Hudson, Harlem and New Haven Lines to accommodate people going into the city to see Pope Francis.
Metro-North Railroad will have additional trains and crews stationed in Grand Central Terminal as well as strategic outlying locations to be dispatched as necessary to provide additional capacity.
People are advised to avoid driving to Manhattan on Thursday and Friday and those without tickets should avoid locations where Pope Francis is visiting.
