Friday, April 5

Teen Center First Fridays Cafe Open Mic: 6:30 p.m. “Family Bands” performs acoustic music at the YCCC Nutrition Room. The teen band performs covers and originals. The Yorktown Teen Center is located in the Yorktown Community & Cultural Center at 1974 Commerce Street, Yorktown Heights. Saturday, April 6

Basket Making Workshop In Yorktown: Noon. The workshop, led by Mary Lou Sgro, will show residents how to weave a Canterbury Shaker basket with a square base and round rim. Add color accents and choose a handle or leave it plain. For Adults and Teens, please register for this program. Limited to 12. The program is free and open to the public. Yorktown Museum "A Microcosm of Yorktown's Past" Opening Reception: 2 p.m. The latest exhibit at the Yorktown Museum opens with a reception. Yorktown Museum, 1974 Commerce Street, Top Floor, Yorktown Heights.

Sunday, April 7

Somers Lions Club Pancake Breakfast: 8 a.m. to noon. The annual pancake breakfast hosted by the Somers Lions Club. All proceeds for the event go toward local charities. The breakfast begins at 8 a.m. in the Somers High School Cafeteria. Cost is $8 for adults and children, $6 for seniors and children under age 3 eating free. Somers High School Cafeteria, Route 139, Lincolndale.

Hart Library Sunday Concert Series – Ellen Woloshin: 2 p.m. Ellen Woloshin and her trio perform at the John C. Hart Memorial Library. Woloshin has wide-ranging composing and performing experience, having worked with Dionne Warwick, Ben Vereen and many others. The Program is free and open to the public. Gerry Cruz and Friends Concert at Somers Town Hall: 2 p.m. The Friends of the Somers Library is sponsoring a free performance by vocalist and percussionist Gerry Cruz. Gerry's musical style combines the soulful sounds of R&B to the quick beat of today’s Latin Swing. Gerry will be performing along with, Brian Delma Taylor, and Harry Rios, who are both multi-talented performers.  Admission is free, but space is limited, so please call the Somers Library at 914-232-5717  to register. 

Yom HaShoah- Holocaust Remembrance Day: 8 p.m. On behalf of the Yorktown Jewish Center we invite all Yorktown residents to join us as we observe Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day. This year's program will be devoted to music before, during, and after the Holocaust. The program is appropriate for adults and children over the age of 10.
