What To Do In Yorktown And Somers This Weekend

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – Two musicals in Yorktown and a neighborhood cleanup in Somers highlight the events taking place in the area this weekend. For more listings, check out our Events page.

Friday, April 26 

Songs For Playful Children: 1:45 p.m. The John C. Hart Memorial Library children’s room will host an event for kids from ages 3 to 5. For more information, contact the library at 914-245-5262.

Somers Library Gaming Club: 3 p.m. The Somers Library hosts the Gaming Club where kids can play games on the Nintendo Wii, card games and board games. The club is open to new members throughout the school year and is intended for Middle and High School students. 

Saturday, April 27

“Healthy Yorktown” 5K Run/Walk: 7:30 a.m. The 2013 “Healthy Yorktown” 5K Run/Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run at FDR State Park. General registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the 5K beginning at 9 a.m. and the Fun Run starting at 10 a.m. Those looking for more are asked to call the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce at 914-245-4599.

Grand Day At Hart Memorial Library: 2 p.m. Enjoy some musical fun with Jeffrey Friedberg and The Bossy Frog Band. The entertainment will be followed by make-your-own sundaes. Free tickets available. For ages 3 and up with grandparents. Either the child or grandparent should be a Yorktown or Cortlandt resident.

Sunday, April 28

“Miles For Medals” Walk: 9 a.m. The Vincent Miritello Special Olympics NY “Miles for Medals” walk begins at 10 a.m. at FDR State Park in Yorktown. The day will include a barbecue, raffles, DJ, pony rides and more.

Library Theater Presents Cabaret Of Broadway Classics: 2 p.m. Vicki Casella and Clif Lewis perform a cabaret of songs from classic Broadway shows at the John C. Hart Memorial Library. Songs are from classic shows as Guys & Dolls, Oklahoma and Fiddler On The Roof and contemporary shows like Hairspray, Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera. No registration, doors open at 1:30 p.m. first come first seated.
