Tree of Life lighting: 6 to 7:30 p.m. Hospice Care in Westchester & Putnam kicks off its 24th annual Tree of Life Celebration with a tree-lighting ceremony. Jefferson Valley Mall, 600 Lee Blvd.

FDR Park cleanup: 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Friends of FDR group is asking for help in cleaning up FDR Park, which was hit hard by Hurricane Sandy. Volunteers should dress in layers of work clothes and bring work gloves. Tools will be provided, but volunteers should bring rakes if possible. 2957 Crompond Road.
Holiday food and coat drive: Nonprofit group My Brother Vinny will collect food, clothing, coats for adults and children, gently used shoes and pet food. The drop-off is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A food drive party will follow from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be raffles, vendors, arts and crafts, face-painting, cupcake decorating and free food and drinks for all donors and participants. Yorktown Elks Lodge, 590 Waverly Road.
Yorktown Police Department & PBA blood drive: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Yorktown Police Department and Police Benevolent Association co-sponsor the first annual blood drive for the community. Yorktown Police Department (on the New York Blood Center Bus), 2281 Crompond Road.

Yorktown Lions Peace Poster exhibit: 1 to 3 p.m. Yorktown middle school students present their interpretations of the Lions' International theme of "Imagine Peace." John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 E. Main St.
