What To Do In Yorktown This Weekend

Friday, Dec. 7

Teen Center Open Mic: 6:30 p.m. Acoustic music - originals and covers - will be performed by teens. Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, Nutritional Room. 1974 Commerce St.

Saturday, Dec. 8

Run-N-Gun Shootout: 10 a.m. Eight local teams will compete in a six-on-six flag football tournament. Many players are members of the Yorktown Flag Football League. The event features football, concessions, prizes, a visit from Santa, and special guests from the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America and the Hope For The Warriors, an organization established to support post 9/11 service members. Nutcracker: 1 p.m. Yorktown Stage presents the Nutcracker. Ticketsare  for $26 for adults, $21 for seniors 63 and older, $21 for students between 12-22, $19 for children younger than 12. Yorktown Stage, 1974 Commerce St.

Sunday, Dec. 9

Fire Department Candy Cane Run: 8:45 a.m. Yorktown's volunteer fire department will hand out candy canes with help from Santa Claus. Check the department's website to see when Santa comes to your street.

Menorah Lighting: 5:30 p.m. Enjoy traditional latkes, doughnuts, chocolate gelt, dreidels, gifts and music at the town's Hanukkah menorah lighting. Jack DeVito Field on Veterans Road.
