YORKTOWN, N.Y. - As July turns into August, several meetings and events are scheduled this week in Yorktown.

Monday, July 30

John C. Hart Library: 10 a.m. to noon. Reading buddies are available to read to 3- to 7-year-olds in the Children's Room. Reading buddies are also available 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday and Wednesday, Noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. 1130 E. Main St., Shrub Oak.

Wednesday, Aug. 1

Open House: 9 to 11 a.m. Soundview Preparatory School will hold an open house. 370 Underhill Ave.

Housing Board: 7 p.m. The Yorktown Community Housing Board is scheduled to meet at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center, Room 1. 1974 Commerce St., Yorktown Heights.

Conservation Board: 7:30 p.m. The Yorktown Conservation Board is scheduled to meet at Town Hall, 363 Underhill Ave.

Thursday, Aug. 2

Support Group: 10 a.m. to noon. Breast and ovarian support group meets at Support Connection office. 20 Triangle Center.

Support Group: 7 to 9 p.m. Breast cancer support group through Support Connection meets at Northern Westchester Hospital. 400 E. Main St., Mount Kisco.

Saturday, Aug. 4

Batters Up: 4 to 7 p.m. Home Run Derby for a Cause to raise funds for Support Connection at Peekskill Stadium. $25 donation. 840 Main St., Peekskill.
