Yorktown Foundation For Excellence To Host Comedy Night

YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- The Foundation for Excellence in Yorktown Education is hosting a comedy night Friday.

The night is scheduled to include several local comedians as a fundraiser for the foundation at 7 p.m. at the Putnam National Golf Club, according to a press release. Tickets are $75 per person or $140 for two and include appetizers, dinner, dessert, refreshments and a night of comedy featuring three comedians, according to the release. 

The Yorktown Foundation for Excellence celebrated "a banner year" in June granting more than $50,000 and awarding two $1,000 scholarships for the Yorktown Central School District. The foundation raised the money in partnership with the H.W. Wilson Foundation and the Yorktown High School PTSA through several fundraisers throughout the school year. A majority of the money was raised through the Healthy Yorktown 5K Run/Walk, a wine tasting, a comedy night and several other fundraisers, foundation representatives said in a press release.

Profiles for the comedians, according to the release, are: 

Janice Messitte Messitte's hard-hitting comedy style, sharp wit and hilarious sarcasm make her a favorite at comedy clubs and colleges across the country. She has appeared on Jay Leno and Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn.

Joe Narvaez Narvaez has emerged as a very talented and refreshing new act in New York City. His shop-tongue style of performances and quick-witted comments have helped him make his mark on the New York City comedy scene. When not on the road, he can be heard on Sirius XM radio. He also can be seen at various festivals, such as the New York Comedy Festival and the New York Underground Comedy Festival. He also is a regular at many New York City comedy clubs.

Joey Gay A native of Brooklyn, Gay is a veteran stand up comic and actor. Best recognized as a finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing, Gay is a regular headliner at comedy clubs across the nation. He's performed on Showtime's "White Boys in the Hood," The Howard Stern Show, Sirius satellite radio's "The Radio Chick Show" and most recently on Comedy Central's Live at Gotham.
