Presently, an adopt-a-cow program is being promoted, a membership campaign is being launched, a fall Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) vegetable program is blooming, the re-energized and expanded educational program is developing, and the annual “Harvest at Hilltop” on Saturday, Oct. 18 is being finalized.

The “Adopt a Cow” program has been attracting support, but it still requires additional assistance. Cocoa, Clover, Cosmo and Cricket, the four newly arrived cows, are eating like teenage boys as they are devouring every blade of eatable grass available.

The farm staff is now supplementing its own natural field food with bales of hay. If you are interested in becoming a whole or partial shareowner of a cow, contact Lucille Munz, the farm’s director, at 914-962-2368.

The farm’s board has been contacting the local business community for its financial support. In addition, a yearly membership program is just being launched. This program will be featuring member only activities and other complimentary incentives based upon the level of giving.

The fall CSA share program will run for five weeks from Tuesday, Oct. 21 – Tuesday, Nov. 18 for $175. This share program – is limited in membership so call 914-962-2368 now to participate.

The new and improved educational program has already seen greater interest as not only school groups, but also Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are signing up to visit the farm. There is an array of options available to choose from including short courses in “Ecology of Seeds and Plants,” “Dairy Science,” “Healthy Living,” “The Sustainable Farm” and “Animal Adaptations.”

“Harvest on Hudson” is planned for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hiking trails will be open, and tours of the Farm will be provided. Pumpkin picking and face painting will be available.
