YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Support Connection Inc. will offer a free program, “Parenting and Cancer: Talking to Your Children,” on Tuesday, March 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Support Connection office in Yorktown Heights.
Join Support Connection for an intimate discussion about parenting with cancer. Participants will discuss the many options and approaches for managing those difficult conversations. The questions and concerns children might raise will be discussed.
Jennifer Jackman, a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree from New York University, will lead the discussion. She has 16 years’ experience working with children, adolescents and families.
She is also a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed with stage four breast cancer in 2007, when her daughter was 17 months old. Jackman’s work with families has been enriched by her own experience with cancer. Her current practice focuses on the challenges associated with a life-threatening illness and the impact it has on children within the family.
The program is open to people living with breast, ovarian and gynecological cancers who have children of all ages. Pre-registration is required.
To learn more or to pre-register call Support Connection at 914-962-6402 or 800-532-4290.
