Added his wife, Maria, "Many of our customers have become friends as well as family. We thank them all that we are still in existence."
Johnny's, named after Piscopo's oldest brother, remains a family-run operation with sons Joe Junior and Ricky behind the counter and daughters Conchetta and Tina waiting tables. (Two of the four grandchildren are also starting to help.)
On July 4, the pizzeria will celebrate 73 years in business.
