Nurse Chooses NWH For Breast Reconstructive Surgery

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- A Northern Westchester Hospital patient and longtime nurse was diagnosed with breast cancer, attributed to performing her military duty at Ground Zero as a 9/11 first responder.

Rose is a nurse who could have had her breast cancer surgery anywhere but came to NWH due to the compassionate care of her team. Rose says her team was unlike any that she has ever met and she would recommend NWH to anyone.

She chose NWH and a team led by breast surgeon Karen Arthur, MD, FACS, medical director of Northern Westchester Hospital’s breast institute in Yorktown and Julie Vasile, MD, who specializes in microsurgical breast reconstruction.

She underwent DIEP Flap Breast Reconstruction, an advanced microsurgical reconstruction.
