YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Chabad of Yorktown celebrated Purim on Sunday with a family celebration at the Yorktown Community and Cultural Center.
The "Cirque du Purim" celebration featured dinner, craft activities and a performance of a one-man circus. Children who dressed up in costume for the event were given prizes.
More than 80 adults and children attended the celebration. The Chabad of Yorktown also has members from Somers and Peekskill.
Purim, the Jewish Feast of Lots, commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from massacre in the fourth century B.C., in a story told in the biblical Book of Esther.
More pictures of the celebration are available on the Chabad's website .
