Chester, Ex-Yorktown Heights Veteran, Dies at 88

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - Benjamin "Bernie" Chester, formerly of Yorktown Heights, died Feb. 6 at Arden Courts in Wayne, N.J. He was 88.

He was born Feb. 19, 1923 in New York City and went on to serve in the Army during World War II. Chester married the late Cathy Chester and they lived together in Yorktown Heights before moving to Spring Lake N.J. and then Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Chester is survived by his daughters Marilyn (Jack) Belchinsky and Dana (Jeff) Brown, his sons Norman Chester and Daniel (Dawn) Chester, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A burial service will take place at 1:45 p.m. on Thursday at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fla. Funeral arrangements are under Yates Funeral Home .

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jewish National Fund , 42 E. 69 St., New York, NY 10021, Alzheimer's research or any charity.
