To the Editor:
Elect the county legislator with proven financial know-how.
Its a key issue for all of us: Taxes. Taxes. Taxes.
But let the facts stand for themselves. The long and short of it is that County Legislator Michael Kaplowitz and the County Legislature have cut County taxes by 2.2% this year.
Yorktown Town Councilman Terrence Murphy, on the other hand, has voted to raise town taxes by 2.48%. Furthermore, while Mike Kaplowitz and the County cut $30 million in spending, Mr. Murphy and his colleagues added $1.5 million in new spending to deconsolidate town departments.
To add to the insult to injury, Mr. Murphy even complains about officials wasting taxpayers money despite demanding and getting a taxpayer-financed Blackberry Internet phone. What hubris!
When it comes to cutting taxes, theres a clear choice in the County Legislatures 4th district: its Mike Kaplowitz who cares about our dollars and our concerns about spending. Join me in voting for him on November 8.
