YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Michael Boccarossa of Yorktown Heights died Thursday, May 17. He was 85.
He was born April 3, 1927, in Port Chester to Caesar and Agnes Cerone Boccarossa. He enlisted in the Merchant Marines when was 17 and then joined the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division during World War II.
After the war, Boccarossa was employed by Marcella Muezuella Construction. In October of 1951, he married Marie Scalisi.
Boccarossa is survived by two sisters, Rose Pellegrino and Antoinette Berkeley; a brother, John Boccarossa; a daughter, Lori (Charles) Damiano; three sons, Jeffrey Rudd, Darryl Rudd and Howard Rudd; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marie; and a sister, Carmela Visocchi.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday at Yorktown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday at St. Patrick's Church. Burial will follow at Rosehill Memorial Park Cemetery.
