YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Swatches of fabric hang on the wall in the childrens room of the John C. Hart Library showing the proposed carpeting and colors for the room.
Beneath those swatches and blueprints sits a photo and information about the upcoming Kurt Gallagher concert fundraiser, to raise funds for the carpet, paints and other renovations the library is currently planning.
Gallagher , a well-known childrens musician, will entertain children this Saturday at 3 p.m. at Yorktown Stage in a concert to raise funds for the renovation of the Childrens Room. Gallagher has performed at the John C. Hart library several times before, so it decided to bring him back for the fundraiser, explained Library Director Pat Barresi.
Hes very popular among the kids and he has a following of people who will come to our library to see him from other places in Northern Westchester, Barresi said. The kids just have a great and exciting time when they see him perform.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Childrens desk for $10 a child or $15 for adults.
Hes just got a way about him that the children just seem to love, said librarian Kathleen Scanlon. He entertains a wide range of children and its just so inviting for all of them, they all love to get involved when hes performing.
The children are the priority in the Childrens room at the John C. Hart Library and as the library kicks off their fundraisers, the children are the main audience.
They just adore him, said director of the childrens department Christine Piattelli. Hes engaging. All the children, even the parents look forward to his visits here.
