YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. Anthony Fabiano, 80, formerly of Mahopac, N.Y. and Bronx, N.Y., died peacefully at his home in Yorktown Heights surrounded by family on March 31.
He was born in New York City on Nov. 21, 1931 to the late Carmine and Angelina (Palumbo) Fabiano. A Marine Corps veteran, Fabiano served during the Korean War. He worked as a mason foreman for the New York City Transit Authority for 25 years. A lifelong New York Yankees fan, Fabianos greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially at their beach home in Maine and at the Jersey Shore.
Fabiano is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie (McCrink) Fabiano, his children Anthony (Rose) of Mahopac, Ann (Ed) Furey of Tolland, Conn., Eileen Muniz of Mohegan Lake and Marie (Jon) Miodonka of Sandy Hook, Conn. He was affectionately called Poppy by his 10 grandchildren and is also survived by his brother Rev. Philip Fabiano of Miami, Fla. and his sister Lucy Enright of Queens, N.Y. He was predeceased by his sisters Mary Vandervoort and Dolores Pantaleo and his brother Carmine Fabiano.
Visiting will be held at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac. A private cremation will follow.
