A 2K walk will also be held for those interested. Live music, vendors, raffles and a live auction are also scheduled for the event.

Walkabout Education Foundation is in danger of closing after 36 years of service due to budget cuts. The organization needs to raise $250,000 "to keep the doors open, gain awareness, and look into opening other programs like it in the future," according to a statement.

The foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to advocate and expand challenge-oriented, experiential education programs.

“'Runabout' will serve as an opportunity for Walkabout alumni and supporters to unite and give back to the program, which is in desperate need this year," foundation board member and Runabout organizer Alison Green said in a statement. "We’re asking everyone who has been touched by the Walkabout Program to show up in support of the program. Whether by running in the 5K, walking in the 2K, making a financial contribution, Walkabout needs your help.”
