Yorktown Extends Teen Arts Festival Deadlines

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – The Yorktown Teen Center has extended the deadlines for teens to enter the 2012 NextGen Festival of the Arts.

The deadline for submissions for art, photography and writing is now April 20, while the cutoff for film and Public Service Announcement submissions is April 30.

The festival, sponsored by Entergy, is free and open to students in grades six through 12. There is no limit to the number of entries. Details for each category can be found at www.yorktowntc.org .

The public can view the displays and performances throughout May. Music venues include John C. Hart Memorial Library, the Field Home, the Jack DeVito Gazebo and the Teen Center.

A kickoff reception for the festival is scheduled for May 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the library's community room. The festival's grand finale will be a Battle of the Bands on May 18, presented by the Yorktown Parks and Recreation Department.
