YORKTOWN, N.Y. A Yorktown High School freshman will have the chance to cut a CD or make a music video with an award-winning producer if she is crowned a champion in a cable television talent show.
Nicole Farda is one of 16 individual vocalists competing in Season 2 of "MSG Varsity's Talent Show" on Cablevision's Channel 14. Farda will be one of four singers taking the stage Sunday at 8 p.m. The two performers receiving the most online votes advance to the next round.
Eight separate acts are also competing in the vocal ensemble and dance ensemble categories. Two acts from each category will perform Sunday evening.
Voting for Sunday's show will remain open until April 26 at 9 a.m. The final winners will be announced Sunday, June 3, at 8 p.m.
"I'm really impressed with the caliber of the performances delivered by these high schoolers," said "Talent Show" host Jared Cotter, an "American Idol" semifinalist. "It's great to be part of 'MSG Varsity's Talent Show' because it gives these kids a great platform to showcase their talents. I only wish they had this when I was in high school."
The Harrison High School Dance Team, which is in the dance ensemble category, is the only other Westchester representative in the competition.
