Hey Neighbors, it has been awhile since I wrote some notes! I have been in Hawaii, on strike duty in Silver Spring Maryland for Verizon answering residential calls, was rocked out of my home office chair last week during the earthquake and battened down the hatches for the onslaught of Irenes fury and was one of the lucky ones to still have power! So now, on August 29, I will fill you in on some positivity around Yorktown!
I left for Kauai on August1. I was lucky enough to use frequent flyer miles and head on 3 planes by myself to meet my mom there and spend 6 days in paradise. I am grateful for taking the leap and making the last minute decision to go. The humorous part of this story is that I went thousands of miles away to a place know for rainbows and I did not see one. Today, after Hurricane Irene, I took my kids to the top of the Croton Dam and low and behold- we witnessed one of the most beautiful rainbows of our time! Sometimes the best things in life are only minutes away.
Speaking of the best things in life. Brittany Bonamassa, Katie Corrigan, Deirdre Delasho,Marie Henning, Jackie Hernandez, Dalia Lorado, Colleen McCarthy, Alissa Phillips, GraceRing, Deanna Savoca, Rachel Weisbrot enjoyed their summer as Counselors in Training atYorktown Stage Camp. These girls worked hard to entertain the campers and were even able tomake some money while supervising campers during the before and after hour camp hours.
The camp is run by Barry Liebman , a staple in Yorktown. He has been managing the camp and the Yorktown Theatre for 13 years. Many of the CITS started their camp experience at the age of 5! The Camp is a well run ship with Augie Abatecola, Mickey Connolly, Nick, Galanin Nikki Nittoli and Brianna OConner at the helm. They always showed up for work with smiles and enthusiasm and made the Campers and CITs have a blast.
Grace Ring took a week off from Yorktown Stage. Grace and Taylor Drysdale attended Nike Basketball Camp at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield.
Loretta Ellias, Kathy and Julianne Farese from Lorese Salon had a heartwarming summer with a new man in their lives: little Dominick . Loretta had a great pregnancy up to the 30 week mark when her water broke. She spent one month in Northern Westchester hospital on bed rest. The experience at the hospital could not have been better the nurses and doctors all took excellent care of Loretta. On June 20, Dominick was born at 33.5 weeks and only had to stay in the NICU for 3 weeks thanks to the prayers and support that everyone supplied. His aunts, Jules and Kathy are enjoying spoiling him and will never take for granted how much of a true miracle a baby really is! His parents, Loretta and Rodney are so thankful to have him in their lives and appreciate all the support and well wishes for their family.
