The Women Of Distinction Hall of Fame, created by state Sen. Greg Ball (R,C,I-Patterson) honors notable women throughout the 40th Senate District, according to a release from Ball's office. Cushner will be honored as part of the Hall of Fame ceremony in September.
Cushner received the award for donating her time to the community, serving as president and treasurer of the Alliance for Safe Kids and serving on the Yorktown School District's Council of PTSA's, according to the release. She is also a Yorktown Girl Scout mentor, participated in relay for life and Drug Crisis in Our Backyard.
“It is a tremendous honor to receive the Women of Distinction Award for a community that has been so receptive and caring from the first day my family arrived here in 2001," Cushner said in the release. "It is an absolute pleasure to be involved with so many Yorktown community members who enjoy the same labor of love necessary to keep each other safe and cared for."
Senator Ball recognized Cushner's "selfless dedication" to Yorktown, according to the release. Cushner said it was an honor to see Ball's statements.
"Senator Ball's proclamation includes a statement recognizing the ability to inspire others with compassion, diligence and commitment which immediately allowed me to think of the many others who inspired and continue to inspire me this way," she said in the release. "I share this award with the tireless Yorktown volunteers who truly make our community a better place each and every day.”
Yorktown Supervisor Michael Grace also commended Cushner.
"Tricy does amazing work for the community in working with our children to raise awareness and help prevent the use of harmful drugs in our town," Grace said in the release. "This is a great event that Senator Ball hosts every year to allow us to recognize great community members such as Tricy."
Cushner was born in Wurzburg, Germany and has been married for twenty years. She is the mother to three children and a graduate of Columbia College in South Carolina holding a degree in accounting.
The Hall of Fame ceremony is set for Sept. 8 at the Putnam County Emergency Services Building in Carmel.
