Yorktown's Bennett Remembered This Saturday

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. - Lifelong Yorktown Heights resident, Richard "Dick" Bennett died on Oct. 17. The former proprietor of the Yorktown Tile Company was 86.

The son of Robert and Lu Lu Bennett, he married Doris Lucille Berg on Mar. 6, 1949. When he returned from military duty in Italy, Bennett became a tiler setter. He eventually became the proprietor of Yorktown Tile Company for 40 years.

Bennett was an avid golfer who won a number of local tournaments. He was also a lifelong member of the Elks Club and was once named Elk of the Year.

He is survived by his sons Richard G. Bennett and his wife Mary Kate of Fishkill and Robert Bennett and his wife Alice of Fishkill, his daughter Jane Jaffe and her husband, Philip of Yorktown and seven grandchildren. Bennett was predeceased by his wife Doris, his brother Robert Bennett and his sister Ruth Mongero.

Calling hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home in Yorktown Heights, immediately followed by a service and interment at Amawalk Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society , 2 Lyon Place, White Plains, NY 10601.
