Young Yorktown Singers Entertain at Fieldhome

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- A new group started by the Yorktown Teen Center enchanted residents of the Fieldhome Sunday.

The group, called Service Through Music, combines the idea of community service with young musical performers who wish to bring and present their talents to different people in the community.

As part of their Second Sunday at Fieldhome event, two 12-year-old girls, and one 11-year-old sang original and cover songs for residents at Fieldhome. Zerena Lupo came up with the idea for the group after she performed at the Fieldhome during the NextGen Festival of the Arts held by the Yorktown Teen Center. In an effort to repeat the impact the music made to her audience, Lupo came up with the Second Sunday at Fieldhome in order to repeat the surprise she felt.

The three girls, Zupo, 12, Julia Kelly, 11, and Emily Salvatierra, 12, who will each enter the seventh grade at Mildred E. Strang Middle School in the  Fall are planning to visit and entertain the Fieldhome residents again on August 14, and invite other performs to join them.
