MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- A Mohegan Lake pet store owner already facing animal cruelty charges is now drawing the ire of animal rights activists, pet owners and more than 2,400 Facebook users, according to theexaminernews.com.
Richard Doyle, 55, of Mahopac, is accused of animal cruelty and has been charged in connection with the deaths of two animals he is alleged to have neglected, according to theexaminernews.com, which also reported that Doyle denies the allegations.
On Saturday, dozens of people stood outside Doyle's pet shop, American Breeders, to call for the business' closure, according to theexaminernews.com.
A Facebook community set up to further the cause had, by Monday evening, grown to more than 2,400 people also calling for Doyle's business to be shuttered.
