Operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, Be the Match is the world’s largest and most diverse bone marrow registry for connecting transplant patients diagnosed with leukemia, lymphoma and sickle cell anemia with donors. For the corporate challenge, volunteers can either register as a potential donor or give financial support to the organization.

The process to become a donor is simple and painless. After registering, participants go to one of the four registration centers where their DNA is put into the Be the Match database by simply using a mouth swab.

“This is great a way for the Westchester community to support an important cause and save lives,” said Astorino. “There will be an opportunity to register in the lobby of the Michaelian Office Building, in White Plains, on May 13th and I encourage our county employees to participate.”

Volunteers can register at one of the various sites throughout the county or go online to Be the Match Corporate Challenge to become a donor.

Here are the participating locations in Westchester:

  • Tuesday, May 10: Meridian Risk Management, One Wolfs Lane, Pelham
  • Thursday, May 12: College of New Rochelle Nursing School, 25 Castle Place, New Rochelle
  • Friday, May 13: Westchester County Offices, 148 Martine Ave., White Plains
