WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – The fares for riding Westchester County’s Bee-Line bus system will increase on Sunday at 12:01 a.m., according to a press release from county spokesperson Donna Greene.

Single-ride bus fares will increase from $2.25 to $2.50. Fares for seniors and the disabled, who show the proper identification, will go from $1.10 to $1.25, the release said.

The 30-day unlimited MetroCard will go from $104 to $112, while the price for seniors and the disabled will increase from $52 to $56.

The seven-day unlimited-ride MetroCard will increase from $29 to $30 and from $14.50 to $15 for seniors and the disabled, the release said.

However, the bonus discount threshold on MetroCard will reduce from $10 to $5.

“The amount of the discount will be reduced to 5 percent, from the current 7 percent,” said Greene. “This thereby reduces the effective cost of a single ride to $2.38.”

There will not be a change in price for the Westchester to Manhattan Express.

In addition to the price increases, there will also be Spring Service schedule changes effective Monday, the release said.

Route 8: The 7:03 a.m. weekday northbound bus from Riverdale Avenue and Valentine Lane in Yonkers will no longer operate. The 1:48 p.m. weekday southbound bus from Central Avenue and Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers to Mount Saint Vincent will also be discontinued.

Route 12: There are adjustments for Sunday buses in both directions between the White Plains TransCenter and the Westchester County Airport.

Route 25: A 6:52 a.m. weekday eastbound bus will be added at the Yonkers Railroad Station in addition to a Sunday, 8:43 p.m. eastbound bus at the Cross County Shopping Center.

Route 30: Saunders High School students and others will no longer be able to take the 6:56 a.m. bus from Riverdale Avenue and Main Street in Yonkers as it will be discontinued.

Route 40: Riders from Westchester Community College to the White Plains TransCenter will have the option of a 10:58 a.m. weekday southbound bus.

Route 45/45Q: The 8:03 a.m. weekday northbound bus from Main and Church streets in New Rochelle to Mill Road and White Plains Post Road in Eastchester will no longer operate. Instead, a 7:27 a.m. weekday northbound bus will be added.

Other route adjustments and further information is available on the Bee-Line Bus website or call the Bee-Line HOTLINE at 914-813-7777 for more details.

Single ride bus fare increase from 2.25 to 2.50 doesn't sound too bad , but who are these single riders ? Like one way airline tickit buyers they should be studied carefully . Most folk on the bus ride to and from work , have a bus pass or metro card , and boarding doesn't take 5 minutes or more . I think buses should have a Passes Only policy . Furthermore , why can't they all have pollution free wind up engines , passenger pedal powerd # 5 and 6 ,and bicycle racks ! It's sad that a lot of healthy young people wish they where 65 or handicapped to get that dicount fare !

Does Paratransit stay the same at $4.00?

But the Federal Gov't says that there is no inflation.
