YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- A business development breakfast will be held at town hall at 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
The meeting, hosted by the town in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, is to help local businesses understand some of the processes and procedures businesses engage in with the town.
This is yet another effort the Town is making to assist local businesses with new development and expansions, Supervisor Susan Siegel said. Over the course of the last year or so, we have streamlined the administrative process, initiated an online database to help locate and promote available commercial space, held kick-off meetings with developers and Town staff to review new proposals, and now this informational meeting to explain the requirements and procedures of the application/permitting process.
Siegel will also formally introduce John Winter, the new building inspector. Other town officials who will be present include John Tegeder, planning director, Sharon Robinson, town engineer, and Bruce Barber, the Towns environmental consultant. Siegel said they will explain procedures and offer tips for how to best avoid common application errors.
For years weve all heard the refrain that Yorktown isnt business friendly but, in fact, that simply isnt true anymore but it isnt easy to shed that reputation, Siegel said. We are working to make substantial improvements and getting everyone in the same room and talking to one another should go a long way in dispelling those misconceptions.
What do you think the town can do to make things easier for local businesses?
