YORKTOWN, N.Y. -- While its winter in Yorktown, youngsters from the area are invited to get a taste of camp before summer shines its rays.
Club Fit is holding its annual camp bash from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28. The event is an evening of camp activities to give potential camp-goers a taste of summer before deciding whether to sign up for the summer program. Originally, the event was scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 21 but was cancelled due to the inclement weather.
Sports Programming Coordinator Jen Ritz explained that the day is aimed at giving kids a "mini-camp" so they know what to expect in the summer. Club Fit holds a sports camp, where attendees can play sports for the day, swim, eat lunch and do other camp activities, Ritz said.
"We will split them into age groups and bring them through the stations," Ritz said. "They can see what camp's about and decide if they want to come for the summer."
An incentive for parents to attend the free event is the discount they receive if their child signs up for camp. Parents will get $20 off each week and a $25 gift card as well. Camp begins the last week of June and ends right before school starts.
