More than 1,400 residents of the Town of Greenburgh lost electricity during Sunday night's Super Bowl, prompting many unhappy calls to Con Edison and town officials.

Foretunately for most of them, power was restored in time for the 34-28 overtime win by the New England Patriots over the Atlanta Falcons. (if you weren't watching, the Patriots came back from a 28-3 deficit.)

Greenburgh Supervisor Paul Feiner said power was reported out in the south end of town shortly after 9 p.m.

"Con Edison is en route," Feiner said. "Sorry for the aggravation. Hopefully power will be restored soon. I know that this is a horror for those hoping to watch the Super Bowl game on TV."

On Monday morning, Feiner said the power was out for at least a half hour, but was back before the OT ending before going out again in the middle of the night.

Bob McGee, a Con Edison spokesman, confirmed that 1,436 customers went without electricity from about 9:15 to 10:05 p.m. The problem involved an underground cable, McGee said.

"I am writing to the President of Con Ed asking that they look into infrastructure in southern Greenburgh and take proactive measures so we can avoid constant blackouts. There have been at least three outages in recent months-non weather related," Feiner said.
